As the National Football League (NFL) continues to grow in popularity, it has set its sights on expanding its reach to new markets and international fanbases. With a focus on Europe, the NFL is working on increasing its footprint through more games in Germany and other countries.

Breaking Records with International Games

Last year, the NFL played five games outside the United States, breaking every record around its international games. The league has already announced an international series for next season, featuring three games in London and two in Germany. This expansion is part of the NFL’s mission to make football a global sport.

International Home Marketing Area (IHMA) Program

To further support its global expansion, the NFL introduced the International Home Marketing Area (IHMA) program last year. This initiative aims to help teams build their fanbases in international markets by allowing them to market themselves in specific regions outside the United States.

First Regular Season Game in Germany

In November, the NFL played its first regular season game in Germany, marking the beginning of a series of four games planned for the country through 2025. This milestone event is a testament to the league’s commitment to expanding its presence in Europe.

Collaborating with Other Industries for Expansion

As part of its global expansion, the NFL is also exploring collaborations with other industries, such as the recent partnership with Southern fried chicken restaurant chain Bojangles. Bojangles is known for its cajun-seasoned fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits and currently has 800 restaurants in the Southeastern US. The company is expanding to new markets, including Illinois, Texas, Maryland, and Florida, as part of the NFL’s mission to explore new markets and international fanbases.
