Darrell Stuckey: Guiding the Next Generation
Drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft by the San Diego Chargers, Darrell Stuckey played seven seasons for the franchise. Now, he serves as the director of football relations at his alma mater, focusing on developing players in ways beyond the game. Stuckey was part of a panel discussion with three other current and former NFL players who spoke about their transition to the NFL and, for some, out of football.
Stuckey’s Reflections and Advice
In an interview, Stuckey discusses his career journey, what he wishes he’d known before turning professional, and what he enjoys most about his current role. He believes it’s important for those who come before us to take ownership in guaranteeing the next generation’s betterment. Trial and error helped him figure out what he wanted to do after he was done playing. If he could go back and talk to senior-year Darrell, he would tell himself that it would be the hardest year of his life.
Sidy Sow: A Promising Newcomer
Originally from Quebec, Sidy Sow has made his way to the NFL, joining the New England Patriots. Patriots Director of Player Personnel Matt Groh said they will try to fit Sow in the best spot possible. Sow has a background at left tackle but has been a guard in the last couple of years. With his athleticism and power, Sow’s coach believes he could play both left guard and left tackle.
Adaptability and Excitement for the Future
Being coachable and able to play on either side of the offensive line, Sow has proximity to his hometown and familiarity with the Patriots. He is excited to be part of the Patriots and contribute to the success of the team.
