The 22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal gave a rare insight into his life as a new father. In the Netflix Slam, he played against fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. In that match, he shared his experience as a new dad.
Rafael Nadal and his wife Maria Francisca welcome their first child in October 2022. Since then Rafael has been enjoying the journey of fatherhood a lot. He said, “Everything surprises you because everything is new. Especially the first kid you have, everything is 100 percent new for my wife and me. So you learn every day, and every day is unexpected.”
He believes fatherhood can teach something new every day. The 37-year-old sportsperson becoming a parent is an adventure and he always wanted to have it in his playbook. He explained, “I have always been a kids guy,” he reflected. “I always enjoyed spending time with the kids, I had plenty of smaller cousins than me so I had a lot of fun with them when they were babies.”
The Spanish player continued, “I can say nothing negative,” he added. “I am lucky that for the moment the baby is doing very well. We are happy.” Nowadays Rafael‘s career is often surrounded by questions of retirement. Now it is high time for a young player like Carlos Alcaraz to spend a lifetime learning from Rafael’s professional career.
The 20-year-old Carlos is currently ranked number two in the world.
